Much Ado About Nothing

The press has been making a lot of noise about the Non-Depository Report issued by the Utah Department of Financial Institutions. There are certainly some stats buried deep within that would make a loan shark blush at first reading. But, we all know stats can be made to lie. It was Mark Twain in his autobiography who first made reference to "lies, damned lies, and statistics."

Payday loan lenders face the twists and turns of lies perpetrated every day by half-truths and lies.

The CFPB needs more complaints!

Yes, that's right! The CFPB isn't receiving enough complaints to justify their mantra to destroy the alternative financial service industry.

Unfortunately for the CFPB, the Report issued by the Utah DFI is NOT going to help their case!
